Artisan Goong is a very successful jewelry designer who has over 35 years of experience. She was born in the city of Chiang Rai, in northern Thailand. Her parents were farmers and worked very hard to support her and her siblings. In order to help support the family, Goong started working with local artisans to learn the skills she needed to earn money for the family. She practiced traditional embroidery and weaving, but what she really excelled in was crafting sterling silver jewelry. Her pieces often sold out at the local market and she was able to save enough to open her very own workshop. She now employs a few artisans who help make her designs, and at the same time, they are learning from one of the best. We here at AeraVida love the timeless quality of Goong’s original pieces because they exude a sophisticated touch elegance that will look amazing with whatever you are wearing.
“Sa wad dee ka, my name is Goong and I love making jewelry so much. When someone wears one of my designs, I feel so proud that something I made can bring a smile to their face. I get motivated to come up with the next design right then and there. I use both modern and traditional techniques to create my pieces, I think whichever method works best is the one I will use. I do not just use one method because the craft is always evolving. Trends come and go, but true style will always be in fashion.”
