Artisan Goong is a very successful jewelry designer who has over 35 years of experience. She was born in the city of Chiang Rai, in northern Thailand. Her parents were farmers and worked very hard to support her and her siblings. In order to help support the family, Goong started working with local artisans to learn the skills she needed to earn money for the family. She practiced traditional embroidery and weaving, but what she really excelled in was crafting sterling silver jewelry. Her pieces often sold out at the local market and she was able to save enough to open her very own workshop. She now employs a few artisans who help make her designs, and at the same time, they are learning from one of the best.
